why might you want to write?
To express myself better. To articulate what goes on in my imagination. I have this awful habit of speaking at the speed of the light. I usually don't notice until someone asks me to repeat myself or I get the feeling that they're only getting 'the gist' of what I'm saying.
Also, I've read so many books. My #1 hobby is to just bite into a book and enjoy it for the full course dinner that it is. When I read I think, I can do/write that.
They say to be a writer you have to be everything aka an observer. I'm not the world's next CIA operative for details. I'm pretty much the typical self-absorbed teen. But I think I have what it takes to plant a story and make it grow on paper (or computer as my handwriting is atrocious).
I'm told to write what I know. Which isn't the drug, alcohol sorta thing, but it's just as real. School, family and just trying to discover who I am is something that can be delivered to a broad audience.
Mostly for fun.
Do you consider yourself a writer? Why or why not?
Yes. I'm not published and haven't actively tried to write a story, but it's more like I think I have what it takes. I have things to say, ideas, a love for books. Perseverance and stuff to actually see it through remains to be seen. I do enjoy writing for my family blog and occasionally on my own personal blog-journal.
Why is writing important?
Weird question. How can writing not be important? It's been an outlet for me when I'm unable to vent my feeling by talking or destroying something. It's a way to communicate and just a way of life. It's another way to communicate for those who can't articulate and are tone deaf. It's something anyone can do. Poems, songs, letters, journals, rousing speeches. Writing is powerful.
What is it that writing brings you or you want it to bring you?
Writing is an outlet for me when I'm angry at my sister who is usually my Plan A outlet. It helps me clarify my feeling seeing them on paper. I want it to bring me fame of touching other people.
What do you want most to write about? Why?
I want it to be kind of based on my life. There isn't that much out there on Orthodox Jewish girls. Most Jewish novels aren't that great (lack of education and reading of secular books). I'd like to revolutionize that.
